Why Should My Children Eat Meals At School?
At a young age children learn notional habits that pave the
way to their health throughout their lives. School meals are a great way to get
you child started on the road to good nutrition. School lunches contain a
variety of food and offer students exposure to new foods. The link between good
nutrition and good education is clearly demonstrated by higher test scores,
better attendance and fewer behavior problems in school. So, why not let your
child give our program a try?
Are Meals At School A Bargain?
Yes, with careful menu planning and governmental assistance
your child is able to get a balanced meal at a reasonable price. You probably
can't go out to eat breakfast for $1.25 or lunch for $1.60 elementary, $2.00
secondary but your child can. It's as close as the school cafeteria. No, not
the old cafeteria that you remember from when you were in school. The new
cafeteria. Your child's cafeteria. The one operating under federal school
nutrition guidelines. The one offering more choices than ever. Alamosa Schools

How Do I Pay For My Child's Meals?
Each student has a computerized account number to enable
parents to pay by the day, week, month, or year. Simply bring money to school
and we will deposit it on your child's account. Each meal will then be
automatically deducted from your child's account. No charging is allowed in our
schools, so we ask you to please check in with the cafeteria personnel
occasionally to see if your child needs funds on his/her account. We will also
attempt to contact you if your child has a low balance.
How Do We Apply For Your Free and Reduced Meal Program?
Free and reduced price lunches are available to students
whose families qualify. Applications are available at your child's school. You
will be required to pay full price for all meals until your application is

Meal Benefits?
Eligibility is based on state regulated guidelines for
income and family size. There is additional information with regards to
eligibility and other FAQ's to our free and reduced meal program available at
registration or through your child's cafeteria. For additional information,
please pick up a packet at registration, contact your child's cafeteria, or
call our office. Please remember that a new application must be submitted every
school year. All application information is kept confidential.
